Josh Madson is a dynamic, prolific photographer and lighting director who works internationally from various home-bases in LA, NYC and Tokyo. Josh has had works with and has had works published in a diverse mix of top-tier, global enterprises and publications, such as Sony, Universal, YRB, Paper, Hydrogen, Athlete's Quarterly, Instyle, Elle, SELF, Men's Health, Esquire, Zink, Fiercive, Jpy, Macy's, Target, Hitachi, Casio and Mac, amongst many others. Additionally, Josh is currently a contributing editor Athlete's Quarterly Magazine and works closely many with editors to enable their visions to come to life. A truly versatile artist, Josh brings a unique beauty and his signature aesthetic to all that he shoots—from couture editorial to product and lifestyle advertisements.
In addition shooting, Josh Co-Founded the Los Angeles based photo and film industry community, The Equation, an organization committed to creating environments that nurture artists for sustainability within the industry. Amongst other things, The Equation specialized is doing unique interactive events geared towards professionals and artists working in creative and entertainment based fields. The equation gained incredible momentum and notoriety within the industry and it's professionals. In 2010, The Equation Produced 10 highly successful industry events, including but not limited to PhotoLA / Art LA's after parties, Steve Shaw's Smudge Photo Studios Launch Party and Ivan Kane's Cafe Was Halloween Party.
In March of 2011, The Equation closed it's doors.
In April of 2011, Josh was asked to be the Creative Director / Designer of a new eyewear line called HRC. With offices in Los Angeles and Tokyo, HRC will ship internationally it's first orders in March of 2012. Encompassing vintage looks with a rock and roll twist HRC will deliver a top quality product with a unique feel.
In addition to creative direction Josh also produces high end events. Aug of 2011, Josh launched Madson Media www.madsonmedia.com Madson Media, LTD. specializes in brand strategy, interactive events, retouching and aesthetic/visual engineering. Madson Media's clients include Casio, Ron Herman, Pacific Fashion Works, Melrose Luggage Store, Sunset Marquis Hotel, Avalon Hotel, Tanteo Spirits and many more.
Throughout the course of his career, he has had the good fortune and genuine pleasure of working with legendary photographers such as Annie Leibovitz, Jason Bell, Tom Munro, Mert and Marcus, Michael Thomson, Miles Aldridge, Mark Abrahams, Walter Chin and Mike Ruiz.
Josh Makes his home in Santa Monica, CA., a stone’s throw away from the beach, where he surfs religiously. Josh has studios in Los Angeles and Omotesando, Tokyo, Japan. 日本大すき!
